ERP implementations are the largest IT projects that are run within any companies. These are long projects, cover a broad scope of people and processes. One of the key work-streams in a ERP implementation is the conversion of data from legacy systems to the ERP system. Understanding the structure, profile of data using DvSum can significantly accelerate the design and execution of the data conversion cycles. Moreover, there will always be exceptions and fall-out of data. Systematic, Scientific and Scalable data quality testing with DvSum during these conversion cycles can help quantify and monitor the quality of data in the ERP system. It also allows the project team and business users to focus on the new business processes and spending less time reconciling the data.
Copy rules from project mode to operations mode
Let’s admit it, most of the focus on data comes about when a new IT system is being implemented or a significant upgrade of an existing solution. If you use DvSum during these projects, then you can leverage the audit rules and cycles you created during a project and leverage then on an on-going basis. You can select the relevant audit rules from the project environment and copy them into the Production environment.
Run audit in batch mode
Let’s say you have a lot of batch jobs that run every day or every week. Those jobs are processing mission critical information and it is important that if there is an exception in the data then it is identified as soon as possible. With DvSum batch mode, you can call one or more audit rules as part of your batch execution from your job scheduling system. If audit rules do not pass, then appropriate action can be taken. Either the batch process can be stopped (if the audit is high priority) or it can continue but warning emails and notifications sent out.
